While the Tanghalang Pambansa (CCP Main Building) is undergoing its much-needed rehabilitation, the Cultural Center of the Philippines has been looking for ways to connect with audiences and presents its artistic programming by partnering with exhibition spaces and performing arts venues in and outside of Metro Manila and maximizing its existing spaces in the CCP Complex.
The leading arts institution has partnered with various museums and galleries in Metro Manila and the regions. Aside from that, the CCP Visual Arts and Museum Division has been rolling out traveling exhibitions, the latest of which is the on-going exhibit titled “Woman: Thesis and Antithesis,” in partnership with the Yuchengco Museum in Makati City.
To continue its visual arts programs and projects, the CCP transforms the third floor of the Tanghalang Ignacio B. Gimenez (CCP Blackbox Theater) into a gallery and exhibition space, dubbed BULWAGANG ROBERTO CHABET.
The featured printmakers for the opening exhibit Space/Place of Bulwagang Roberto Chabet
Deemed a fitting move to create an exhibition space, the new gallery hopes to complement the philosophy of the CCP Blackbox Theater. The Blackbox theater has been designed to cater to new works that are out-of-the-box; the same principle that the Bulwagang Roberto Chabet (CCP TIG Gallery) upholds. In time, the new gallery will host contemporary and experimental exhibitions, as well as innovative collaborations.
“As its mandate, the CCP creates a balance between being in touch with Philippine art history and making space for contemporary methods of artmaking. We hope to accomplish and fortify that responsibility through Bulwagang Roberto Chabet,” said CCP President Margie Moran-Floirendo.
The new exhibition space aims to extend the CCP’s thrust of promoting artistic excellence and nurturing of art making and appreciation while the Main Building undergoes rehabilitation.
The CCP plans to utilize Bulwagang Roberto Chabet as artistic space for young artists with limited exposure as well as fresh and innovative ideas that artists and curators would like to explore through the CCP Visual Arts and Museum Division’s Exhibition Venue Grant program.
“We hope the new gallery will become a dynamic space to showcase works from the CCP 21AM collection, reframed and recontextualized to respond to the interests and concerns of a wider audience. The CCP has been encouraging explorations and innovations in artmaking and exhibition-making by providing not just space but also curatorial assistance,” said Moran-Floirendo.
The new gallery is named after a Filipino conceptual artist recognized as one of the most influential Filipino artists in the post-war generation. Naming the exhibition space after Roberto Chabet honors the significant contributions of the late visual artist in the Philippine art community. It represents his recognition of the potential and energy young and emerging artists bring and contribute to the trajectory of local contemporary art.
Known for his diverse works that sought more inclusive methods to arts, Chabet was the first museum director of the CCP from 1967 to 1971. A Gawad CCP Para sa Sining Awards recipient, he was instrumental in acquiring some of the pieces included in the current CCP 21AM Collection, as well as in establishing the CCP Thirteen Artists Awards in 1970 as a curatorial project. The stage curtain of the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) is based on the painting of Chabet, rendered on a tapestry made in Kyoto, Japan.
The CCP’s Bulwagang Roberto Chabet (TIG Gallery) officially opened to the public with “Space/Place,” an exhibition by the Association of Pinoy Printmakers, on May 16, 6pm that will run until June 18, 2023.
Do check out the new gallery and its debut exhibit at the Tanghalang Ignacio B. Gimenez, located at the CCP Complex (fronting PICC). Follow the official CCP social media accounts in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tiktok for the latest happenings.

Pinoy Interactive Entertainment (PIE) celebrates its first anniversary with a brand new season of exciting programs, more face to face experiences, and new ways of winning that will capture the hearts of KaTroPIEs around the country.
PIE has been successful so far but Ian Monsod, CEO of Kroma Entertainment acknowledged “we couldn’t have been successful without the support of our partners like ABS-CBN, and I appreciate their trust and confidence in our purpose…”
Formed from the era of the pandemic, PIE has been doing well and as to how it is faring against other channels, it has audiences from multiple platforms. They wanted to launch a really strong “something new” that’s relevant and which has compelling content that is really Pinoy-related, including horror-comedy.
Originally positioned as a TraDigital platform—an intersection of traditional and digital—when it launched last year, PIE enters its second year as an interactive and rewarding platform where people can increase their chances of winning while having fun by simply clicking on their mobile phones or engaging via the website. With every click or pindot, our KaTroPIEs can earn points, win instant cash prizes, premium items, and gain meaningful connections and experiences.
As PIE celebrates its 1st PIEnniversary, it launches its new campaign “Pindot PIEnalo.” “Pindot PIEnalo ka dahil kada pindot, PIEnalo ka more,” as explained by PIE Programming and Operations Head Alex Asuncion. Pindot PIEnalo, loosely translates to the thrill of winning by a tap, press, or swipe on any device. It emphasizes the variety of ways everyone can win by interacting during PIE’s different programs:
Through interactive game shows such as “Sinong Manok Mo?” (headlined by momshie and pop culture icon Jolina Magdangal together with “Ate Girl” Jackie Gonzaga and Eric Nicolas), “Matching! Matching!” (hosted by the energetic Nikki Morena and singer Kevin Montillano), “Pak na Pak!” (hosted by the fun PaKada, Vivoree, Aljon Mendoza, Anji Salvacion, Jeremy G., Igi Boy Flores, Sheena Belarmino, and Gello Marquez), and “Ur Da Boss” (headlined by comedian and momshie Melai Cantiveros, KaTroPIEs are able to win instant cash prizes and premium items.
Viewers that take an active part in the PIE experience by registering and referring others to PIE, voting and sending reactions, as well as attending PIE’s events in barangays, malls, and tourist spots around the country are eligible to gain online points. The KaTroPIE with the most points wins prizes such as cash, vouchers, premium items, and unique experiences through the channel’s various game shows.
KaTroPIEs also gain new experiences and meaningful connections through its new programs such as “Kung Saka-Sakali” (a reality show that tackles life’s what ifs headlined by the well-loved Ogie Diaz), “Mga Kuwento ng Dilim” (stories of the paranormal hosted by dramatic actress Charlie Dizon), “The Chosen One” (TCO): “Kakatacute” (an interactive piliserye show starring actress-singer Angeline Quinto and comedian Chad Kinis), “TCO: Chugi Night” (TCO: Kakatacute’s weekly elimination show hosted by actor Jameson Blake and reality show alum Karina Bautista), “SPG: Saktong Pang Gabi” (the naughty evening talk show topbilled by comedian Negi and supported by MNL48’s Rans Rifol and actor-model Argel Saycon), “Para Sa All” (teen narrative headlined by Mutya Orquia this month).
Innovations such as the recurring feature KatroPIE of the Month and PIE’s new website chat function were also designed to make the KaTroPIE experience better than ever.
The fun continues through on-ground experiences, bringing the Pindot PIEnalo experience closer to home and where KaTroPIEs are. Watch out for more details on the Grand PIE anniversary mall show slated for June 2023 and new editions of “PIE-sta on Wheels” in a barangay near you.

During the covered period, “Batang Quiapo” only registered 10.6 percent, 11.2 percent, 10.7 percent, 10.9 percent, and 11.4 percent across several simulcast channels (TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Cinemo).
Moreover, the show keeps on receiving positive feedback from viewers and netizens. Everyone has one thing in mind, “Voltes V: Legacy” is worth the long wait and definitely a Pinoy pride!

Kapuso viewers also lauded the world-class visual effects of the program, especially the first-ever “volt in sequence.” Diehard fans also noticed its opening billboard, which pays homage to the iconic Japanese anime series, “Voltes V.”
According to some netizens on GMA Network’s YouTube channel, “The world premiere of ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ was a gigantic success with its 3D battle scenes, costumes, an all-star cast and everything that is rolled in one megaserye! I was teary eyed watching this legendary TV show on Philippine television. Kaya pala ng Pinas na makipagsabayan sa mga film industry ng ibang bansa! This is definitely a REBORN MASTERPIECE!!! ‘Voltes V’ is a legend. Thanks a lot GMA for this exceptional revival!”
Viewers also highlighted how the series gave more depth to its characters and storyline. Based on some comments on GMA Network’s Facebook page, “I want to praise how the story goes in ‘Voltes V: Legacy.’ A lot of unanswered events have been answered in this adaptation. Mas naging expansive ang narrative, malalim ang characters, at may justification.”
The live action series is produced by GMA Network in partnership with Toei Company, Ltd. and Telesuccess Productions Inc.
Acclaimed local animators from GMA’s Post Video Graphics and Audio team and Riot Inc. handled the program’s heavy CGI and other visual effects.

Under Executive Order 26, signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday, the Malacañang Heritage Mansions shall include the Kalayaan Museum and other properties as may be identified by the Advisory Board, which the Social Secretary shall chair.
