Ivy Violan topbills ‘Mother’s Day’ special
Ms. Ivy Violan, who’s been residing in the US for sometime now, makes a musical comeback via the Mother’s Day special “Maraming Salamat Po Nanay,” to be shown on May 9 at 7pm Manila time.
Presented by Rotary Club of Manila and ONE Production House, “Maraming Salamat Po, Nanay” will be shown live via RC Manila Archangel Premier International Facebook Page and ONE Production House YouTube Channel.
Dubbed in the video as the Philippines’ Pride, Ms. Ivy Violin topbills the Mother’s Day tribute and with her as co-performers are BahayniONE artists Joel, AyeeGee, Angela O’La, Larissa, I’Vs, and O’Win – all talented musical artists.
It is recalled that Ms. Ivy Violan was one of the more popular OPM icons in the 80s and early 80s. Acclaimed worldwide, she won awards in various international singing competitions like the 3rd ASEAN Popular Song Festival, the Asia-Pacific Song Contest, and the 4th International Midnight Sun Song Festival.
Ms. Ivy Violan was also a member of the country’s most popular bands during her time, like the Sangkatutak Band, and the Royal Flush Music Society before forming her own band called 8th of September. Her musical career, which involved concerts and recordings (most of which were her own compositions like “Hanap-Hanap,” arranged by Mon Faustino), was disrupted when she decided to go back to school and joined her mother to reside in the US.
During her stay abroad, she would come back every now and then to do special shows, like “2 Rocking Souls @38..A Woman In Me Ivy Violan,” which was in celebration of her 38th year in the musical world. Held in October 18, 2019, it was done at the Vue’s Sky Bar & Lounge at Marco Polo Hotel.
“2 Rocking Souls@38…” was produced by 8 Infinite Production with Homer Flores as musical director and Joey Nombres as show director. Performing with Ivy as guest artists were Richard Merk, Merjohn Lagaya, Mina Campos, Babsie Molina, Sylvia Macaraeg and Elise Cortes.
On May 15, Ms. Ivy Violan together with George Sison Tagle, will also be the featured performer in “Pasasalamat,” a musical tribute to frontliners. Special guest performers are Jam Morales, the Angelos and Nanette Inventor.
Presented by the Rotary Club Archangel Premier, “Pasasalamat” will be shown at 2pm and 11pm California time via Facebook and YouTube.
